Much like the wide expanse of land that comprises
the metropolis, Houston’s diverse ethnic background provides
a wealth of exciting cultural opportunities and exploits. This diversity
extends to the distinction of being home to NASA as well as world-famous
rodeos. Culturally, the Museum District contains such estimable galleries
as the Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Museum of Natural Science
while downtown’s Theater District hosts the biannual Bayou City
Art Festival and other acclaimed performance events. Sports are a
mainstay of Houston’s community, with five professional teams,
including MLB’s Houston Astros and the NBA’s Houston Rockets,
calling the city home.
